Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is governed by the Indian Air Force. AFCAT is a doorway, for both male and female aspirants, who yearn to join the Indian Air Force for Short Service Commission.
The exam is conducted twice a year in February and August/September, respectively to choose Class-I Gazetted officers in flying and Ground Duties (Technical and Non-Technical).

The eligibility criteria of AFCAT 2024 for Ground Duty and Flying Branch are given below:

4. Widows/Widowers and divorcees (with or without encumbrances) below the age of 25 years are also not eligible.
5. Married candidates are allowed to take the training in case they are above the age of 25 years but they will not be given any accommodation to live nor they can live with their family members.

The AFCAT is held in three stages. Candidates have to make sure to qualify for each stage for the next stage. Our experts guide students about every stage of exam during AFCAT coaching in Chandigarh.
Below is the list of stages conducted in the AFCAT Selection Procedure.
1. Online AFCAT Test
The Primary stage for the selection of Candidates in the Indian Air Force is through the AFCAT Online Examination. For both technical and nontechnical streams, candidates will have to appear for the AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test) which will be held for 300 marks. The Candidates who apply only for the technical branch will have to appear for the EKT(Engineering Knowledge Test) which will be conducted for 150 marks.
2. SSB/AFSB Interview
After successfully qualifying for the Online examination, candidates will be called for the AFSB(Air Force Selection Boards) interview or SSB.
This stage has two more stages as it is conducted for 5 days. Both the stages are explained below:
Stage-1:
It Includes the following two tests:
1. Officer Intelligence Rating Tests.
2. Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PP & DT)
Stage 1 is called screening tests and candidates who do not clear it will be rejected and will not be called for AFSB Stage-2.
Stage-2:
All Stage-1 Qualified Candidates will have to appear for AFSB Stage-2 and undergo the following tests:
1. Psychological Test: These are the written psychological tests and are conducted by Professional psychologists
2. Group Tests: These tests involve mental and Physical activities to examine the candidates on various mental and physical parameters.
3. AFSB Interview: In this round, the interviewing officer takes a personal round of Interview for the candidate.
4. Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) Test: This test is Mandatory for only those candidates who have applied for the Flying Branch.
3. Medical Examination
Recommended Candidates will be called for the medical examination. The Indian Airforce has prescribed only two centers for Medical Examination which are the Institute of Aviation Medicine, Bengaluru, and Air Force Centre Medical Establishment (AFCME). After the Medical Examination,a final merit list would be prepared on the basis of the Marks scored by the Candidate in written and AFSB interviews. All the shortlisted candidates would be given the joining letter of the respective training academies they have applied to.
The application fee for the applicants for the AFCAT exam is Rs. 550/-. Candidates can choose any mode of payment such as a Credit card, Debit card, or Net Banking in order to pay the application fee of the AFCAT 2024 exam.
