About RRBs

Indian Railways is the second largest railway system in the world thus it is divided into 16 zones headed by a General Manager. Each zone is divided into various divisions and each division is headed by a Divisional Railway Manager.

Vacancies of Railway Department is filled with the help of Railway Recruitment Boards ( RRBs). RRBs are the examining bodies associated with the Government of India to conduct a Common Written Exam to recruit new employees for the Indian Railways Department. RRBs has 21 boards all over India to hold exams for various posts which are divided into four groups as:

1. Group A
2. Group B
3. Group C
4. Group D

Recruitment for Group A posts is done through the Civil Services Examination and Combined Engineering Services Examination. These examinations are held every year

Latest Exam Pattern for RRB Exams:

The selection process consists of three steps:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT)
2. PHYSICAL EFFICIENCY TESTS (PET)
3. Document Verification and Empanelling of selected Candidates

1. Computer Based Test (CBT):

Negative Marking: This test will have negative marking for every wrong answer in the CBT. The permissible penalty of 1/3rd of the marks will be marked for each wrong answer given by the candidate.

2.PHYSICAL EFFICIENCY TESTS (PET):

Candidates who will qualify CBT will be eligible to appear for PET. The merit list will have candidates two times the community wise total vacancy of the posts released in RRBs. It is compulsory to pass PET as it is a qualifying test for the posts announced by RRBs.

The eligibility criterion for PET is given below:

Note: Candidates with disabilities will not be allowed to appear in PET. Such candidates have to pass a medical examination according to their respective Disabilities.

3.Document Verification and Empanelling of selected Candidates:

The candidates who will clear CBT and PET will be called for Document verification and followed by joining.
